III.  Course Name: Microbiology & Immunology
Theory Hours: 34hours
Lab Practice Hours: 30hours

Course Description: The area of microbiology and immunology is represented by at least five different disciplines, namely bacteriology, virology, parasitology (including arthropods, protozoa, and helminths), mycology and immunology. Students will learn the structure and function of the different components of the immune system, and how they are regulated.
They will also learn the principles of hypersensitivity reactions and autoimmune diseases in various immune disorders and the principles of transplant rejection. Also,they will study the specific mechanisms of adaptive immunity and the responsive immunological defence. This course is designed to allow students to explore many groups of organisms that they will not normally see in their everyday activities. Some of the types of organisms covered will be viruses, bacteria, fungi and protozoans.The instructor will use lectures, discussions, demonstrations, and experiments to help students understand the importance of microbes in the environment and to illustrate their practical and medical applications to man. Throughout the course many laboratory activities will be done to allow the students to observe many of these organisms and products that can be made by representatives of this group. IV.  Course Name: Medical /Surgical Nursing
Theory Hours: 146hours
Lab Practice Hours: 82 hours
Course Description: continuation of Medical Surgical Nursing with the study of nursing intervention through application of the nursing process for clients with medical surgical disorders. The course will include anatomy and physiology review, medical and surgical treatment and the related nursing interventions, as well as the psychological approach in caring for theses clients.
Course Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course the student should be able to:
1.Discuss the anatomy and physiology of the respiratory system, digestive system, cardiovascular system, endocrine system, nervous system, hematopoietic and lymphatic systems, immune system, reproductive system (male and female), urinary system, musculoskeletal system, and integumentary system and discuss different disease processes involving each specific system.  
2. Recognize common medical diagnoses, therapies, and treatments of clients with medical and surgical disorders of the respiratory system, digestive system, cardiovascular system, endocrine system, nervous system, hematopoietic and lymphatic systems, immune system, reproductive system (male and female), urinary system, musculoskeletal system, and integumentary system.  
3.  Outline diet guidelines for clients with medical and surgical disorders of the respiratory system, digestive system, cardiovascular system, endocrine system, nervous system, hematopoietic and lymphatic systems, immune system, reproductive system (male and female), urinary system, musculoskeletal system, and integumentary system.
4. Interpret the purpose/results of common diagnostic tests and assessments as related to medical and surgical conditions discussed in the respiratory system, digestive system, cardiovascular system, endocrine system, nervous system, hematopoietic and lymphatic systems, immune system, reproductive system (male and female), urinary system, musculoskeletal system, and integumentary system.  
5. Recognize common medications and side effects of these medications utilized to treat medical and surgical disorders of the respiratory system, digestive system, cardiovascular system, endocrine system, nervous system, hematopoietic and lymphatic systems, immune system, reproductive system (male and female), urinary system, musculoskeletal system, and integumentary system.
6.Develop a nursing plan of care for the adult client utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for medical and surgical disorders of the respiratory system, digestive system, cardiovascular system, endocrine system, nervous system, hematopoietic and lymphatic systems, immune system, reproductive system (male and female), urinary system, musculoskeletal system, and integumentary system.         
7. Relate basic infection control measures for transmission of communicable diseases to the client with medical and surgical disorders of the respiratory system, digestive system, cardiovascular system, endocrine system, nervous system, hematopoietic and lymphatic systems, immune system, reproductive system (male and female), urinary system, musculoskeletal system, and integumentary system.                 
8.Sketch a teaching plan for a client with medical or surgical disorder of the respiratory system, digestive system, cardiovascular system, endocrine system, nervous system, hematopoietic and lymphatic systems, immune system, reproductive system (male and female), urinary system, musculoskeletal system, and integumentary system .
9.Discuss the steps and procedures in the discharge planning process for a client with medical and surgical disorders of the respiratory system, digestive system, cardiovascular system, endocrine system, nervous system, hematopoietic and lymphatic systems, immune system, reproductive system (male and female), urinary system, musculoskeletal system, and integumentary system.
10. Plan how to utilize basic nursing procedures and skills to implement plans of care.
